French beans
« on: June 18, 2009, 20:11 »
I have purple and yellow climbing french bean plants that are looking a bit sad.

Is it too late to start off a new lot?

How long have they been in?

I planted mine about 2 weeks ago and they are only just perking up it might be the weather blowing hot and cold, it's not too  late to  sow some more though

Mine always look yellow for a few weeks after planting out but no, it's not too late - particularly for dwarf varieties
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I planted them out about 3 weeks ago I think. They were looking a bit better yesterday and even had some flowers on em. I have started some more off anyway just in case. Can always put em somewhere else and hope for a late crop I guess.

Thanks

Mine looked a bit sad and off colour, so gave them a good feed with Phosphrogen(spelling?) watered on  and they perked up.  They just needed a bit of a helping hand.  Maybe yours could do with a bit more easily accessable minerals?   ???

Mine did this, watered with seaweed feed and scattered some blood fish and bone, 1 week on and they're beginning to climb up the munty strings  8)  Definetely slooower than the runners though, seem to be more sensitive to planting out and bad weather (but my 1st year, so what do i know...)
