My Aran Pilots are up, and the broad beans in between the rows, no sign of my Pentland Javelins yet.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I saw it in a book - I think Bob Flowerdew's. The idea is that the broad beans get on OK with the spuds and are over by the time you dig the spuds. I've just put a single row of beans in to leave room to earth up the spuds.  I'm a pushover for wheezes from books so I'll let you know how it goes.
One day I'll remember my camera.

If the blessed Flowerdew suggested it, it should work. I suppose their nutrition requirements aren't too different and since beans are legumes they won't be nicking nitrogen from the potatoes.

My rocket potatoes first earlies have been up two weeks now and the maris peer 2nd earlies have been peeking through for a week.  They're going great guns.  They are in buckets and compost bags.

Tatties don't grow by timers, Gaffer. Give them time and when they're good and ready, they'll be up. You do get the odd one that refuses, but it's usually 90%.  :D

how often in this dry spell should i water them or should i not water them? im confused.

Dan, water them  -- you mustn't let them dry out. Potatoes need a lot of water when they are growing the tubers as well

If the soil / compost is dry that may well be why you haven't seen any leaves! Stick your finger in and see if it's damp. If not, water.
