Pumpkin problem or not ??
« on: June 16, 2009, 10:02 »
I've planted 4 pumpkins in the ground and put 2 in large individiual pots a few weeks ago but they don't seem to have done much since.  They haven't died but they don't seem to have grown much either!  They vary in size from 8 - 12 inches.  They have all got buds on them and are being watered and fed but I haven't grown them before so is this normal?  When do they start to produce the actual pumpkins?

Some can hang around for a while then take off, I reckon they are putting a good root system down then all hell breaks lose, my Atlantic Giant last for around 4-6 weeks hardly moved then it took over a large area of the plot. So long as they look ok they will move.
Punk isn't dead...it's underground where it belongs. If it comes to the surface it's no longer punk...it's Green Day!

I've got Baby Bear and Snowman this year, and they have done nothing to speak of for about a month... and now they are growing at a rate of knots and have got female flowers now too --- woohoo  :D  I guess Aidy is right in that they need to acclimatise and establsih a good root structure --- let's face it, they' ll need it  :nowink:
