Sowing seeds for cauliflowers
« on: June 15, 2009, 21:37 »
Am I to late to start cauli's.

I tried some in March but they just went leggy and with all the other jobs never got around to them again.

It's getting a bit late for this year, but it'll only cost you a few seed to try.

In a couple of weeks I'll be sowing mine for over wintering & spring harvesting. (Winter Pilgrim).

Why did the others go leggy, were they too warm? These will be sowing outside in modules & transplanted into pots. They'll not even see the inside of a cold frame!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Yes I think they were too warm.  I will have another bash, but will also look out for the ones you suggest,

My cauli went a bit leggy so popped it in my salad box for protection against wind and banked them up a bit, they are transplanted out now and just getting their heads.I did see some plants in my local garden centre that looked good or maybe try swap shop.My psb got eaten but some lovely lady on there who lives locally is letting me have 6 of her plants !! worth asking.
