Swedes
« on: June 15, 2009, 20:56 »
Hello everyone,

I'm getting ready to sow my swede, and wondered if it was possible to start them of in modules. I did some turnips in them with really good success and wondered if i could do the same with swede or whether to do it straight in the ground.

Cheers

Steve

I do mine in modules....but you can't let them stay in there very long. I do mine just so they germinate well, but as soon as they're healthy looking they get planted.  :)
If you delay they never seem to develop properly :(

Up to about 3-4  inches should be fine, any bigger and i think you'd be pushing your luck, but that's only my opinion :)

I'm off to my lotty just now to clear some room for mine to go in right now!  Mine are only about an inch high in 1 inch modules though but I did wonder how big is too big so thanks for posting the original question
