Possible spud blight in Hampshire??!!
« on: June 15, 2009, 08:53 »
Hi all had a look at my spuds yesterday and noticed black spots on leaves in my row of Vivaldi but not on any of the others.(All 2nd early) I thought I would avoid summer problems but it looks ominous. Assuming it is early blight should I remove the leaves to spare the other rows or cross my fingers that the spuds won't be affected.

Cheers HH
Keep digging

Checked some of the other posts with pics and yes it is blight. Have cut down haulms and hope none of the other spuds get contaminated. Worth noting the romano  are unaffected despite being in same bed as the vivaldi.

Sorry to hear you are suffering too.

I have had to get rid of all my Accent potatoes as they were riddled with it.  Some tubers were starting to be affected so I dug up the whole lot.  My Charlottes are starting to show the signs as well now despite a thorough dosing of Dithane.

My Maris Pipers have avoided it so far so fingers crossed.
