I have six of these (the big green ones you see advertised in the sunday papers) that I've grow potatoes in this year, which will all be empty in the next few weeks.  Question is, what can I grow in them for the rest of the year, seems a shame not to put them to use?

I have chickens and a dog so I might use mine for a courgette plant just to keep it as far out of their reach as possible!

why not replant with maincrop potatoes, ready for Christmas dinner

do you not have to wait a while before you replant what you've harvested. I thought the thread a bit back mentioned 60 days.

Easier just to buy seed potatoes conditioned for Christmas crop I reckon.  To be planted during August I think
