Can anyone help  :?:

Before I start, sorry the piccie is so big. I WILL get the hang of it soon.

Anyway, I have a lime bush which is absolutely snided with flowers and tiny limes. There are about a dozen bundles like the one in the photo.

I've been feeding it through the winter with citrus winter feed, once a week, and started feeding the summer feed last week. It's in the conservatory at the moment. Last year I got a few limes off it but they were only small and quite hard and a lot of the little ones like on the photo dropped off.

What can I do to stop this happening  :?:  Is it too hot for it in the conservatory  :?:  Is it too early to put it outside  :?: Can anyone offer and tips  :?:

Thanks very much, and sorry for going mad with the  :?: emoticon

My brother-in-law has limes and Kaffir lime in his garden in Australia but I find that they don't do too well in the Highlands!

If you don't get a reply on the forum, I'll email BIL with your questions.

If it was any other kind of a fruit tree, I'd expect most of the fruit to be dropped in favour of only one per cluster to develop to full size.

I'd be tempted to keep it in the conservatory year-round to be honest.

But I am guessing here.

Cheers WG

It would be such a shame to lose them.

Keep thinking of key lime pie and a slice in my gin

Pardon the observation but, in Derbyshire, you might do better growing the juniper berries for the gin !!! :tongue2:

I barter fresh lime juice 25 litres at a time from a guy who prepares fruit/veg for a business.  It makes a wonderful syrup to dilute with sparkling water.  Mmmm.

I have a few citrus trees and they really easy care.
Feed epsom salts around the drip line once in the spring and once in the autumn. Don't over water as they don't like wet feet at all and prefer to be a little on the dry side. Yellowing of the leaves is a sign of overwatering and shedding immature fruit is a sign of shock in most fruit trees.
I have Taihitian Limes and they are green and only 2"(50mm) at maturity, but very tasty.

Hi coatesi,

Thanks for the reply, and you've reminded me what sort I've got.

A Tahiti lime it says on the label, so maybe my small limes was the maximum size they were going to get last year

I'll try to water a little less to see if that helps.

Cheers,

Kerry.  :)
