Question about digging
« on: June 12, 2009, 22:24 »
About 4 weeks ago I sprayed my weedie patch with roundup (naughty me!)  All the grass is now completely dead - not a hint of green left.

Now do I understand this right that I can just turn over the earth (with a spade rather than a fork) only picking out the roots of the perennials rather than picking *every* root out?

Or should I skim the top couple of inches off anyway, before I start digging?

Most of the roots will be dead but pull out the clumpy bits as you dig and it will be fine. Compost or rotted manure in the autumn will perk it up no end.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Round up will be dead if it touches soil.  Just dig it and remove and roots you see.
