As I'm not too keen on weeding I decided a year or two ago not to have any on weeds my plot
and it has mostly worked out quite well
When I sow seeds I place a stick / marker at each end of the row and tie coloured string onto the sticks. This marks the exact line of the seed row. I make sure the seeds are sown directly in-line with the string.
Anything that comes up either side of the string is swiped through carefully with a swoe. Hand weeding the along the line as soon as
anything shows green leaves me with a clean, weed-free, row of seedlings. (But you do need to know what the seedlings look like to avoid pulling the wrong ones!!) After that it is easy to nip along the row removing the odd occasional weed that appears...trying to avoid it getting to anything more than its seed leaves.
Providing I keep at it - little and very often - I end up with a mainly weed-free plot.
