If you build to last over many years.  It will work out equal over the years.  But you can not put a price on taste, plus think of all the calories you will burn off by doing the chicken chores and now you have another subject to bore your OH and friends with.

You will need to put the weld mesh around the bottom 3 ft of the run.

I'm glad you have a mesh roof too as a fox can leap over a 7 ft mesh fence with very little trouble.

No do not say that aunty.  Mine is only 5.8ft. But is does bristle with electric fence wire.

Yes, will do that Aunt Sally.  We hoped we had it all sorted but obviously not, oh well will get the weld mesh and put it on asap.  Foxes were seen on 3 occasions around here last winter so we know they live near here.

Looby's idea of putting a flimsy mesh pelmet around the top of the fence is good.
Once they reach the top, they can't climb past it and can't climb over because it's won't support their weight (so they think).

But apparently looks even more like prison camp.

someone had to mention my run  i aint had not one prob yet { ok dont speak to soon } .

i placed steel bars at i think 45 degree angles all round the top of the run with sharp wire threaded all the way round so even if they did get up there thier poor paws would be killing them first before they get to my girls .
but as i have said before i dont worry about the foxes i worry about the bored theives out there .

p.s i still cant find any little army men with machine guns to put into each corner 
forgot to add ebay -- 90 metres of weld mesh wire cost me with postage £85 .
