Never had club root (touch wood!)

I understand that if it is on the plot it is hard/impossible to get rid of.

How does it get transmitted?  Knowing that might cause me to take steps to avoid getting it in the first place - assuming it doesn't blow in on the wind!

  It gets transmitted in the soil on your tools,  boots etc. but my bet is that it usually arrives on the roots of brassicas transplanted from infected soil.  So beware of any gifts of young brassicas from fellow allotment holders!

I have never had it either but I do have onion white rot and I have no idea where it came from.

The fungus is easily transmitted as already said.  It's the main reason for the tradition of not walking on anyone else's plot.

The trouble is that the cats , hedgehogs , pigeons and soggy frogs don`t wipe their feet 

Clubroot is not the end of the world as far as brassica`s are concerned , they just don`t do as well.

Thanks all. I grow all my own Brassica plants, in fresh Known brand compost - so hopefully that will be enough.

The plot has rabbit fence around, so I've probably only got risk from the birds (well, Mr Hedgehog can climb the fence - either that or a pigeon carried him in! - but the rest will stay out)
