Hi All.

I have a couple of blueberry plants in pots with ericacious compost...my question would be...

i know they don't like tap water, but is there something i could add to tap water to make it ok for them if my waterbutt rain water should ever run-out?...i know it's along shot.! if i'm ever desperate?

Many thanks
Tom.

I promised I would come back with the name of the stuff I think I got from B&Q.
It is: doff/Ericaceous Plant Feed Concentrate; Add 15 ml (half a measure cap) per gallon water.
This is what I use for our blueberry when it needs water. Jim

Well I re-potted my 2 blueberries today in bigger pots, mixed in some of the sulphate of iron I bought, gave them a lovely long drink of rainwater and put some canes in the pots and covered them with fleece, because something ate all the leaves last year and I was wondering if it was sawfly or something.  also will be trying to keep the birds away this year.  Last year they ate what few berries there were!!

Many thanks for all the clever ways to keep my lovely plants alive 'till the next rainfall...
i'll try almost everything to save them should the rainwater run-out...which i'm sure it will when i most need it...as you all know.

Tom.

This may sound bonkers, a trick my dear friend told me, as it worked wonders for him, put some rusty nails in you soil for heathers and azaleas and blueberries......... apprantly it makes all the difference! Am in the process of trying it as well.
