update on chook with lead poisoning
« on: June 09, 2009, 10:23 »

well I thought I would give you all an update on my girl with the lead poisoning, we gave her the injections as directed by the vet but unfortunately there was no improvement in her at all so yesterday we had to despatch her  :(  she was in a small run next to the main run as the other girls were pecking at her, she couldn't even stand on her own and had stopped cleaning herself so I think it was for the best, so sad though  :(

The other three are fine and we've scoured the run, grass, surrounding areas etc for any small bits of metal so hopefully they'll be ok.

oh that's so sad, you did your best though and it takes guts to decide to put them down.

it really was quite heartbreaking, she would sit on my lap for hours, being stroked and fussed over and I had got so attached to her  :(
