This could be  a dangerous thing to say but I have not seen any this year yet. (Touches wood). We have very large contingents of various tits and finches in both gardens so perhaps they are keeping them down.

We have had same problem with green fly last week my son even had them in his hair!!! The rain we have had seemed to get rid but had to move my tomato plants into green house as they were covered.

I went on holiday for a week and came back to my toms and chillis totally covered in greenfly. I had to go buy some bug killer stuff as there were millions of them. They have destroyed some of the chilli plants but toms are all ok

A couple of weeks back my Chillies and herbs were covered in greenfly / aphids, I don't have the time to check on them everyday so ordered some ladybird larve.  Although the recent rain seems to have cleared most of them I have noticed a couple of healthy looking spiders that seem to have done well out of making their home in the herb pots!!

Look forward to introducing the larvae to the remaing bugs this evening as watching the slaughter....

Sprayed my broad beans early on with soapy water as their did not seem to be to many predators about, then when the ladybirds appeared I left them to get on with it but they seemed more intrested in humping than eating.

What do ladybird eggs look like? I have a brown tear drop shaped types on the upper surface a yellow clustered version similar to cabbage white underneath. I can't wait for some babies cos they go through the aphids like a hoover.

In Chatsworth kitchen garden yesterday I noticed loads of greenfly on the roses - it was difficult to tell where the bud ended and the greenfly began
