broody chicken

well my black star clarissa has started to behave broody again

is there any thing I can do to encourage this as I would like to increase my flock and think this would be the best way.

Pop some pot eggs under her and see if she stays put. If you decide to go for some fertile eggs she will need to be in a seperate broody house from your other hens. Move her and pot eggs after dusk and once your sure she's settled replace the pot eggs with the real deal. Have you thought what you will do with cockerels once they've hatched?

I'm hoping to get cream leg bars and silver dorkings and hope to sell what I don't want to keep. If that doesn't work out I know a guy who can do the deed for me, couldn't do it my self
where will I get pot eggs from?

I got mine off ebay. Somewhere like Countrywide should do them.

I have spent the day building a house for my broody hen and managed to get some pot eggs hen and eggs are in the new house and fingers crossed she will stay on them is there any thing I need to give her to keep her strength up as she doesn't seem to eat much.

When she is on real eggs then once or twice a day remove her if she doesn't do it herself so that she can eat, drink, poo and have a dust bath or run around. She will be off the eggs for about 20 mins and then go back. They do not seen to eat very much as they are not very active. Whilst broody mine ate mainly mixed corn and a few meal worms, with just a few pellets.

thanks I hope she will be happier in her own house as one of the other hens kept going in the coop and shouting at her (well thats what it seem like) I had to shut the pop hole then open the shed door so clarissa could come out if she wanted to.
