HI there,

I'm sure I grew foremost last year, and am almost certain that they are one of the varietes which marshalls got wrong on my order for this year  >:(

I ordered 4 lots of different spuds, but was sent 2 lots of rooster and 2 lots of Lady Crystal  >:(

The foremost performed well in my poor soil (silty ash on top of shale from a former ash pit), although the ash tends to cause a lot of mine to rot due to scab every year

Oh well,  we have to use what we are given, don't we?

I had scab problem with mine also the year I grew them.

Very productive, but not pretty to look at.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

grew them a few years ago and wasn't very impressed, I had quite low yealds and they didn't taste of much. On quite a sandy soil, maybe they didn't suit.
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

I bought some for the first time this year.  They didnt chit, so had to buy another type.
Put them in very late due to the chitting problem.  They seem to have caught up (although not quite as tall as my second variety) so dont know what they will be like.

However my neighbour also chitted  them and had no problems whatsoever.  "Everyday story of  countryfolk allotmenteering :D

right... so marshals claim of: "Extra high quality with firm, tasty white flesh which is especially tasty!" is perhaps a little optomistic!!!

...all well :)
