I think furtle and furkle are very similar!  Had a look on the web link - 00eer.

Furkle seems "more earthy" sorry about the pun.  Think you can get a lot of feeling into "I'm going to furkle".

If you use it in the baser meaning, as someone has posted on here, you may go blind! :D :D

I couldn't wait anymore either and felt nothing when furtling, so tipped a bag of Vivaldi out tonight. A bit too early as some were only pea-sized, others plum-sized, but they were lovely anyway, with river cobbler and lots of butter.
Now that's over with - had a peek and eaten some - I can wait patiently for the rest  :)

Someone asked where the biggest ones are - mine mostly tend to be at the bottom, near the seed potato. Makes sense, as those will be the first to form.

Had a furtle the other day and they were no bigger than runner bean seeds, but today there are a few that are large egg sized ones - no matter, they all go down the same way

Yep - furtled today, I did. Waz right 'appy too.  :)

There it was sitting right in my way - one of last year's escapee tatties - growed well in middle of the spot on plot just where I wanted to plant in... sat siiting all on its own.

So.... up it come to make way for another row of leeks... and much to my cheerfulness there were some fine new spuds underneath - steamed gently they wil be tomorrow!!  :)

The answer lies in what you put into the ground!

couldnt wait any longer so off for a furtle i went (well the wifes out so she wont know ) Anyway i couldnt feel much in the tubs so decided to put one of the tubs on its side and gently eased out the plants...oh what joy to see nice little tattys (slightly bigger than marbles). They were planted 1st week in april so we about 10 weeks in so another couple should see them right hopefully.
