Supporting determinate toms.
« on: June 02, 2009, 14:07 »
In recent years I've just stuck 1 cane in like I do with the intermediate ones and used string to support the trusses in a very Heath Robinson sort of way. Its resulted in lots of snapped branches when it gets a little windy.

Does anyone have any better solutions - Im growing in pots 12" in diameter if it matters. The pots are lined up against a wall if it can be used.  Varieties off the top of my head are Roma, Super Roma , Sub Arctic Plenty, Glacier and totem.

I use 3 canes per pot with string around from cane to cane every 5 or 6 inches, and let them grow shoots out where they will, always one there to take the weight of heavy trusses (I hope!) :)

Have seen them supported in a tube of wire...but with bigger holes than chicken wire!
