Easter Planting
« on: April 06, 2007, 18:26 »
Okay,

It is the busiest weekend of the gardening calendar, so what is everyone planting this weekend?

We stuck with tradition and planted a few early spuds on Good Friday.
We have broad Beans ready to transfer outside - having hardened off in the cold frame.
First Peas are outside already, but being mullered by the pigeons, slugs and mice.  Nothing new there!
Parsnips, Carrot, Radish, lettuce, Spring Onions, Onion Sets, Shallots Sets all lined up for planting.

In the green house we have four leaves on some tomatoes and the corgettes will be going in this weekend.  The Garlic started in pots are growing well and we are planning on putting them outside very soon.

We also have Twelve Hens Eggs in a Homemade Incubator which are due to hatch on Easter Monday - For the childens sake I hope we have some success with them as they have been religiously helping turn them five times a day.

So Fellow Plot Holders and allotmenteers - What are you up to?

Let us all know - and by the way hope you all have a Happy Easter.

Rugbymad (and family)
Enjoying the traditional ways and values of life.

Still got half a plot to finish digging !

Hardening off lettuces, cucumbers, toms,  land watercress.

Opps! that reminds me think I left the land cress out in garden.

Cucs, toms and lettuces are getting big though.  Especially cucs.......seed leaves then 3 big leaves and another set of leaves, I think, coming through, plus some little looks like leaves appearing in the join of the main stem and a leave branch/stalk (sorry don't know the lingo).  No experience of Cucs at all don't know what they are supposed to look like, only just found out they climb up a stake you have to put in or something.  Suttons cucumber marketmore.

I.m hardening off onion seedlings and lettuces to put out, and have put out the last of my spuds today, and put loads of seeds of half-hardy annual flowers in the greenhouse. And if it would just rain I would put the hardy annuals out...
