Hello,

I have 5 cucumbers in the greenhouse in 10 litre bucket with drainage holes drilled in the bottom.

I will take a picture later as they are looking rather ill but can anyone advise me on how often to water and feeding e.t.c or any other water related disease. They are carmen variety so Its not Cucumber Mosaic Virus as I think they are resistant.

Also I'm sure I read somewhere its best to water through a pot or plastic bottle. I have been spraying them with a hose until the soil was moist but is this wrong ? I watered today with a watering can through the pots but the top layer of compost was dry but does this mean the roots are getting the water?

Thanks

And pictures to follow.

Thakns Sean. How do you water now then and how often ? Do you think I can still rescue them ? How did you have so much spare ?

I lost my first one like that, so when i planted the replacements out i just cut the bottom off the pot and planted the whole thing with the pot top about 2 in higher than compost level....if you get my drift. Now when i carefully (no splashing) water the pot the stem of the cue stays dry :) Watering through an upside down bottle (with bottom cut off) would have the same effect
I have noticed that during the day when it's hot, the leaves look a bit limp but later when it's cooler they look fine again :)

I'm going to plant a bottle with my two while they are still OK  :)
