Burpless Cucumber Question

Burpless Cucumber Question

Hi All,

My Burpless Cucumbers are flowering but only with male flowers.

Not one female yet.

Is it normal for them to start this way.?

It sometimes happens that all male flowers/seeds get into one batch. Had it happen once to men and I got zilch cukes as it's the females which make the actual fruit. So, chuck the lot and find some with the swollen ends behind the flowers...those are the females and the producers.

Don't know if its the same as with courgettes but I was told that they often producced a lot of male flowers at the begining of the season but then the females catch up. Certainly seems to be true in my limited experience of courgettes and the squash I planted last year.
