Charlotte Potatoes
« on: May 30, 2009, 08:51 »
Good Morning! Everything is going well for this newbie , no apparent major disasters yet

I have a row of charlotte potatoes planted for my earlies and they are just beginning to flower. Do I dig them up when they are flowering nicely or do I wait until the flowers die away?

Had a couple of plants which may have been infected with black leg , got them out and the other plants all seem to be unaffected and doing fine. However , with that in mind I would like to get them up at the earliest opportunity. I'd rather end up with tiny new potatoes than end up losing the crop entirely.

Keeping a close eye on them and as I said they seem to be doing fine and the main crop (maris pipers) also at this time appear unaffected

Thanks in anticipation
Keep smilin'
Sal x

As said on other threads, have a furtle under the soil & see what's there.

If you don't like what you see, (too small  ), put the soil back & wait a bit longer.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Seeds are SOWN, planting's for plants (and bulbs & tubers)!

my Charlottes are also just floweriong now - i had a rummage and they are a little small yet so I'm waiting for a week or so.

The wait is torture! I love Charlottes, so buttery. Mmmmmmm  :D
