Hello everyone.

Today I heard that our local council is trying to encourage self management on all sites in the area.  In line with this scheme the rent will probably rise from £5 per annum to aything between £25-40 per plot.

I was just wondering how this faired with other people around the country.  How much do you all pay and do you have any additional charges for water or repairs, etc?

£26 a year for 250m2 plot, £3 a year insurance (public liability only), and a £5 for water (which is switched off Oct- Apr)

I would pay more for more facilities but as the place is run by the inhabitants of Gods waiting room I will have to wait for a bad winter before anything changes

£16 a year includes insurance in case the darling little vandals break in and hurt them selves on all those nasty veg people leave carelessly around.
But if you don't pay before Christmas its £20. Thats for a standard plot size, pic's of mine in my gallery if your interested.

My plots are £12-65 a year each.  Both a similar size, roughly 30x60'.  No water on site, but amusingly the council put a very expensive set of gates up on our site, which only has three plots on - and the one plot I don't have is fenced off totally, and they made their own entrance in the hedge!

Just the bit between the string for now. Tempted with the plot on the right as it's only twitch and dandelions.
Long narrow plots on the stretch I'm on, and theres only 2 cultivated plots on a row of about 10.

Perhaps if it were not for all those people in gods waiting room your lottie may be a block of flats by now. You can change things if they really are for the better, but changes like this can cost a lot of money.  Look upon these people as a benefit and a resource and you will start to get what you want. :D Meanwhile try not to be so ageist it does not sit well on such a couple of intelligent people.  If your lucky your day will come. :)  :)

No idea I'm plot 121 which is near to the main gate so I'd guess at about 140/150. Soils nice bit on the clay side but I'm used to that. Could do with plenty of muck on it but it will  have to wait untill the end of the year.

Sorry mkheneanry didn't mean to appear ageist    most of our plot holders are on the old side and tend to be an inspiration on how they manage and how much advice they dish out. Like you say if I'm lucky I will get there, unlike the many who bravely gave their lives, or their youth for us.
Once again apologies .

Thats ok It just did not seem like you.  All your postings and mine give us away a little at a time. I am sure you would not want your postings to mislead people for the sake of a cheap laugh. But we all including me do it. I as much as  anyone else.  So dont worry. :D  :D  :D
