lancastrian onion seed
« on: May 25, 2009, 08:30 »
Hi all

A dear old friend of mine a few weeks back said he used to grow lancastrian onions.
I thought I would have a look through the seed catalogues and web pages where I might get me some later in the year and give them a go next year.
Trouble is for all my searching I cannot find where to get these seeds from does any one here grow Lancastrian and which sead supplier you used.
Can you hear voices?

I am pretty sure Bob that a welsh onion is a bunching or salad type. Lancastrian can grow to four or five pound in weight each.

Or it might be our infamous giant onions .... http://www.mammothonion.co.uk/
But yes it was  salad onion/ spring onion. Now't special.

I think they are a very large onion in ther own right just like mammoth and bedfordshire.
My old mate used to joke when family asked him for a couple of pounds of onion he said he wasn't going to cut nothing in half.
They do mention this on google I know they call it the football onion but no mention where to get seeds.
