Carrot Question?
« on: May 19, 2009, 20:04 »
Hi all,

Just checked my carrots in a bucket in the greenhouse and the leaves are bending over.

They look really healthy apart from the drooping.

They have been in this 10 " bucket from seed and can't think why they are going over.

Anyone have any ideas please? or is this normal.

They are F1 Maestro and are about 2" apart and they leaves are about 8" high.

Thanks in Advance

Steve

Anyone kicked the bucket recently, so to speak? (or moved it?).

If the compost has been disturbed the carrots will think they've been pulled up.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

The compost is just moist.

Haven't used any herbicides and don't think anyone has kicked the bucket.  ;)

could it be the compost has run out of nutrients ? they been in there since 24th March.

I have a max/min thermometer in my greenhouse and the temperature often goes up to 100F on sunny days if I don't have enough ventilation. That makes things droop. If that is the cause they will pick up when watered and cool.
My carrots have been outside for weeks quite happily.
I don't think not feeding would make them droop. I have been feeding mine a little.

They look pretty healthy to me. Probably just a little too warm?

They look pretty good too. However, I would put the carrots out during the day and keep the toms in, instead of the other way around. Toms do like it warmish.
