poultry stunners

hi has anyone by any chance come across a 12volt poultry stunner ,the reason i am asking is i have several eggs under 2 broody hens and if some are cock birds they will have to be dispatched as local bylaws do not permit them . i shall keep them untill pot size as it would be a waste not to .i have tried all the other methods but see one of these being used whilst visiting but cant remember what it were called or where it was,

hello coopready,

stunners are very expensive! �300 to around �1,000. Good to be thinking ahead though, have a lot at some poultry courses specifically for killing poultry and preparation for the table. Alison at Hook farm runs a good one and some peeps here have attended with good feedback.

The one my Brian uses cost us over �500 10 years ago, but if you only have a few birds to do like your cockerals, Ascott.biz and solwayfeeders.com do a hand held one or a wall mounted. Last year we also bought the wall mounted one, so I could learn to do it myself. dont trust myself to do the job properly with the stunner in case I don't kill the bird right off, but I use the wall mounted one reluctantly if I have a poorly chick.
