no more eggs?
« on: May 14, 2009, 22:23 »
I wrote recently about one of my birds being ill and laying an egg minus a shell. She then laid something that was all wrinkly and pink - it looked like her insides!. She has not layed since although she seems recovered. It is about a week since her last egg. Could it be that she will not lay again?

don't worry yet!
that pink and wrinkly thing was the shell.

it takes a lot out of a hen to lay a shellless egg, so take good care of her.

best to lay off the treats for now though - feed her her layer's rations and greens only - that'll get her back on track!

could have been a lash!

it could have been: aunty says:
a lash which is the shedding of the lining of pary of the reproductive tract
If she's laid a shell-less egg first, it's more likely to be the shell - and that would make her off-colour.
although, if she's not right within 2 or 3 days, I would take her to the vet.
