Summer might be here by you Learner but it definitely isn't here.  We've had torrential rain all week, even by Welsh standards, ok for watering the crops but a bit rubbish for anything else  ;)

Never stopped here for about a week. Showers constantly. Planted grass seed on a piece of land at work and it has shot up this last three weeks due to shower after shower. The lettuce and seeds that were doing well are now waterlogged at home, need a greenhouse but not got the space for one...... Soon be summer,I hope... what is the long range forecast for this month anyone know??? 8)

Inspite of  the rain the plot was not waterlogged  - so all the effort of digging a sump drain in the corner has worked :D Last night the soil was just right -  forecast is a good weekend here - bet I'll be moaning its too dry then ::) ::)

Will lettuces rot? Or just swim of down the road? Any suggestions for protecting them from the downpours? Cover them with something? What? No room for green house and plastic just sinks on to them with the heavy showers.

Can you make some hoops to hold the plastic up.  Blue water pipe or plastic hula hoops work well.
Cheese makes everything better.

I keep reading of people using blue water pipe but the only blue water pipe around our way is going into the ground for new water supply network (replacing the old leaking version). Where does everyone get theirs from??  :(

Most big DIY stores.

Try a search on ebay.

This is a link to where Aunt Sally gets hers.
