Hi all,

When putting my little girl to bed the other night, she saw a fox in with our chickens as she was closing her curtains. I ran as fast as I could downstairs and out into the garden to find one of our girls lying dead and another in the foxes mouth.

The fox dropped this girl and under my wifes instructions to "Get Him!" I grabbed hold of the fox and launched it about 10ft into the air over my back fence... (hopefully tought it a lesson!)

The problem I have now is with the girl who he was in the middle of attacking...

I'm sure she has a broken wing and the others are starting to pick on her a little. She's not eating or drinking as she has been, and spends most of her day in seclusion nestled down in a corner of the run. She is struggling to walk properly due the wing hanging in the way of her stride.

Any advice would be greatly received...

Seperate her from the other girls if you have facilities.  Strap the wing up with a bandage.  Poor girl is in shock.  Check with a chicken vet if you can.

Hello! what an awful thing to happen! but i suppose if you hadnt of spotted it, it would of had the lot! I am no expert! they will be along soon! but it sounds like she is in shock! I would remove from the flock and her place her in a quite warm dark place if she is still no better then personally I would get her to a vet ASAP When i had a very drowsey chick i gave it a little warm sugared water (not alot of sugar) and it seemed to give it enough energy to start feeding itself
