I do not have any cucumbers or squashes in the SFG.

Certainly look like Pumpkins ( or Squash) in the front right of your picture - the two plants with the flat leaves - what are they?

I was guessing you were going to train them to spread on the path - sort of an 'SFG+' if you like!  ;)

Ooooh. Liam's Pumpkins!!

I didn't excpet it to get very big to be honest, that is why I left them there.

If need be I can move it/them to a grow bag.

If you train them on the path and make sure they get plenty of water (so the other plants don’t get shaded or dried out) then you should be OK – provided they are not 'Atlantic Giant' that is!

No idea what training is, nor would I want them to grow on a path (if I had one)!

I think I better read up on Pumpkins.

From what I know you should expect the plant to put out ground creeping vines, length depends on variety but 6ft is not uncommon! The fruit grows on these so you need to at least let them flower and set fruit before you think of pinching the tips out to check the growth. To stop them taking over the whole garden you can train the vines by pegging them down or round in circles to keep them more compact. If you let them out on to the gravel at the side of your SFG they will be quite happy as the vines don’t root, just spread. One plant will be more than enough – you should get rid of the other after you are sure all frost has passed.

So will there be more than one fruit to a plant?

I would prefer to keep two plants going if possible.

I might have to leave my gorgeous SFG behind, seems we have found a new house (still not 100% ours, but here is hoping).

The new place does have a garden, but no idea how I would, or could move my 'Box' even if I wanted too.

I suppose I could spade each square into boxes if I was really careful, I wonder if it's worth the risk?

It would seem a pity not to try after your obvious hard work and great results :)

I would prefer to keep two plants going if possible.

It depends on variety again – do you know what type this is? It could be one fruit or six depending on the type, even more in some cases.

If you are moving soon then the pumpkins could be potted up and taken with you – ideally they shouldn’t be in the ground for another couple of weeks anyway as still a frost risk – it really depends how soon you are moving.

For the other plants I would try and move them, but it really depends if it is worth the effort to you – moving is complicated enough! Some plants will move more easily than others so maybe take them out a couple of days early, then if they don’t take well you bin them and if they do you take them.
