sweet peppers(capsicum) - fruiting too early ?
« on: May 07, 2009, 19:22 »
After waiting 5 weeks for my capsicum seeds to germinate, I finally bottled it and bought some plants from the local nursery last week.
They are in a cold greenhouse, and are about 5 inches high - but are fruiting already.

Should I remove the fruits ? It seems a bit early in the day for them to be fruiting.

As a side note, the stupid seed-sown peppers are just germinating now - after 6 weeks !!!

Thanks for any advice,
Ben

IMO if they are happy enough to fruit....let them get on with it

Re the other peppers...sounds about right ........peppers can be right so and sos. Some of mine are about 12in tall the others took so long to germinate that they're only 3in tall. I'm just hoping for a good summer so that they can catch up

Just wanted to say that.

That would be OK with gh ones, some peppers can be surprisingly small plants generally, especially to start fruiting. If they are in small pots, you might want to move them into a bit bigger one with some No2 or 3 compost and start feeding with tomato feed, about half as often as it is recommended for tomatoes on the feed. Root restriction itself can cause early flowering with a lot of plants.
