We have volunteer potato shoots coming up in the area that was badly affected last year and they are distorted in the same way as the plants were last year. I emailed the chemical company and they say that it is likely that the tubers absorbed herbicide residue last year and that is why they are showing this effect.

Is there a chance its in cut grass as well? I have used the communal manure pile on our site which comes from the local stables with no problems. By some arrangement we also get grass cuttings delivered by the small lorry load! that is put next to the manure heap. I have just two potato plants affected and wonder whether I picked up some of the grass with the manure, but as with all things time will no doubt tell.
