It is a Terrance in disguise!

Let it grow and name it. Then when it turns out to be a weed feed it to some chickens :D

A while ago I planted some flower seeds (can't remember what) that I'd never grown before and hence didn't know what to expect. In about 80% of the pots this spindly but kind of interesting plant game up. I diligently watered and nurtured these plants, got them to a good size and planted them out in a border. Then my mother came round......

"Ohh, look at those horrid weeds all in a row"

Then she told me it was Fat Hen  :D

What a muppet

a weed is just a plant you didn't want or is in the wrong place.
you lovingly nutured these "fat hens" so they weren't weeds.

they might have been pretty.

Email the photo to the seed company. They will be grateful to know that there are impurities in their seeds. They will probably send you replacement seeds. What seed company is it?

It came in a pack of sweet basil from Dobies of Paignton. Will drop them a line since I've now taken a photo. Ta!

Fat hen taste delicious and makes a fab substitute for spinach. It usually comes delivered with a load of farmyard manure. It's called Fat Hen because in the 'olden days' it was used to fatten hens as it is high in protein.  Here are some pictures of 'Fathen Pie' made like the Greek Spanakopita (Fat hen, feta cheese but with chicken too, in a filo pastry case. Nice picnic grub. Yum.)
