There is no official guideline or answer to this, Michael, as it is illegal to use pesticides which are not approved (rhubarb leaves etc is not approved, as  you may guess).
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

The reply is fairly plain, I think.

Quote from RHS - Use of garden chemicals.

"Only products approved by
the government can be used as
pesticides, so home-made pesticides
brewed from concoctions of rhubarb,
cigarette butts or even washing-up
liquid are now outside the law."

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

What yorkie is saying is that it's use on vegetables is illegal.

It is illegal to use any home made pesticide on vegetables - crazy maybe but true  ::)

Oh thanks Dave.

I use horticultural soft soap  (not washing up liquid) which is legal and is very effective !

What if it's being used as a somewhat poor but free foliar feed, and just happens to kill things by accident? ;)

The point is that you are applying something to crops which does not have legal authorisation for its particular use.

That's the way it is.  No winks.

Foliar feeds are allowed but you must only ever say that it's a foliar feed or a deterrant is ok i think as well.............but pesticides not allowed

Suffolk Herbs catalogue still tells you how to make a garlic spray, so that must be legal
