No way, only just sown mine.

Still 4 weeks to go to a year since the last frost of spring last year.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'm the same. I have the seeds chitting, waiting to go in paper pots. The point here is that the last two years we have had very warm spring weather followed by very wet weather in early summer. While we all wait for 'the frost to pass by' we will grow our beans to flower in the wet weather and not get pollinated. This year's weather seems to be a repetition. Typical gardener's dilemma.

Someone on our site planted out at this time last year.

They didn't do much for 4 weeks. Then they went black & keeled over.

I'm not saying we'll get a frost, but do keep an eye on that forecast.

Mine have not popped their heads out of the seed trays yet.

Two weeks ago I planted out four RB plants I had grown in pots, just a little experiment to see how they would get on.

All four died within ten days

I have a new batch in pots, nothing has come through yet, will put some more on the go this weekend.

Im targetting the weekend of 16/17th May for planting out, possibly a small number the week before.

dd, do you sow yours in pots then transfer outside?
i did last year, but they were really leggy to start with.

should i wait longer (and do it outside) or do the same again?
I only have windowsills that get the sun for most of the day, so it might be too hot.

(they did prodcue shed loads of beans, though)

thanks

The first half of my beans went on to wet kitchen paper yesterday.  I'll do my second half in a couple of weeks time.  I'm hoping that will extend the season  ::)

Dare I say it????

CAT LITTER TRAYS!! Nice & deep, (about 3"). I get about 40 to a tray.

Start them off in the cold greehouse & once germinated go onto out patio, (6 concrete slabs), which is well sheltered. If there's a frost forecast, as there's 40 in a tray they are easy to move.
