A block of 6 x 5 would have been much better.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

They need to be planted in blocks, so they can be wind pollinated more easily. I do a block of 12 plants, 4 on each row

I planted in a block.  I'll give them a shake at pollen time this year.

I had this problem last year even though I grew in blocks, this year I will grow them closer together and give them a good shake at pollination.

Ice is laughing at me, not you Rachael - don't be offended!

How far apart did you plant them? I go for the regulation 18".

My seeds were yellow, like dried sweetcorn (chitted and planted now) but you are all saying blocks and rows... what about those of us without much space nor allotment?

What shall I do with my 7 little babies?

I know they need to go in blocks and I have some 3ft x 3ft beds.  Should I aim or 9 (3x3) or 16 (4x4) in each of these beds?

I'd try & squeeze in 4 x 4, I know quite a few who use less spacing then 18" & get away with it! It's 7 extra plants afterall!
