Run out of propagator space

Have had a busy morning of sowing and have now run out of propagator space.

I have some Squash and Pumpkin seeds to sow. Will these be happy in pots on a window cill, or should I wait til I have space come free in my propagators?

What have you filled your propagator with ? 

It's quite likely that sosme of those seeds don't need to be in there !

Nothing fancy ... just cheapo Aldi plastic jobs!

Have sown toms, cucumbers, courgettes and cauliflowers in propagators and french climbing beans in pots.

Sounds like the squash and pumpkins can go into pots as well then. Now I just need more window cill space! I'm guessing its no good trying to get them to germinate in a coldframe?

Courgettes don't need heat either.

I've never found need for a propagator. Tesc* do a good line in re-sealable plastic bags!

I've always used the resealable plastic bag approach, but this year I bought two windowsill propagators - unsophisticated, no thermostat just gentle heat of a few watts and each takes 7 x 1/4 size seed trays with little clear plastic lids. I've been very impressed with the speed of germination, and the percentage, compared to my plastic bags - I'm sold! Also, my central heating is set a bit low (19C) for some things early in the year that want 20C to 25C, and I think it was a boon for that reason too.

I bought some spare trays because things move off the heated bit to grow on a bit further before pricking out.
