Maran's / Rhode Island Red (experiences pls)

I have a CouCou Maran and she is the watch bird of the flock.  She's quiet unless she suspects danger.  She runs off any unsuspecting bird that comes into the garden.  She also catches bugs mid air!  We've had her several weeks and she still hasn't laid a single egg even though she is a big, blousy lady with a beautiful red comb and waddle .  She just can't be asked .  She mixes well with the rest of the flock but seems to go to the beat of a different drummer.  She's just on a different wave length than the others.
