Help needed for name of tool
« on: March 26, 2007, 09:29 »
Hi

Can anyone please tell me the name of the tool you use to remover soil before planting a plant from a module.  You push it into the ground and it removes the soil to pop your plant in.  They are round metal with a handle on them.  :?  :?  :?
Bye

A bulb planter?  Seems a bit OTT when a trowel will do the job??

I take it we are talking about this sort of thing..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRAND-NEW-Bulb-Planter-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ230109477375QQcategoryZ122906QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

I find them easier to use thn a trowel when planting out my brassicas, sweetcorn and the like from individual pots. It neatly removes a plug of soil & the sides don't keep collapsing in, so I'm not digging away like a mole just to get about 6" down!

Perhaps you don't have that problem if your soil's heavier than mine WG!!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

£1.97 for 40 litres of compost isn't too bad either. A 'friend' told me so.
