Owww yessss.

I sowed my KW nearly two weeks ago & they are coming through nicely. I've put the heritage peas in today.

You're further south than me, so it should be even warmer!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I've got 7 x 24 foot rows of peas in so far & just about on top of the sowing/planting.

So much so, I even mowed the lawns today.

I have these mad spells in the home garden. I'm not very keen on non-productive gardening like mowing lawns & weeding borders. It usually happens when we've got visitors coming.

This is our pea bed but I am abit worried we wont get hardly any after seeing how many you have above

Should I pop in another bed for some more peas, we are fairly big pea fans  :nowink:

Firstly I think you need more peas in the bed you have.

Posted this on another thread, this is typical pea spacing...

I'm guessing that your beds are about 5' long and it seems you have about 30 plants in there. The recommended spacing would accomodate 60 plants.

Secondly, I'd turn ALL you beds over to peas! :tongue2:

We thought the same about the spacing yesterday, would it be okay to pop more in now

I don't see why not, you'd just pick them a bit later, no harm in that. They would catch up to quite an extent, but probably not enough to call it a dead heat!

This is a great thread for a pea novice like me, thanks!

At the risk of hijacking the thread, I put three varieties in seed trays (in a mini greenhouse) about three or foiur weeks ago and only two plants have poked their heads out... I'm starting to get worried that they haven't germinated, should I have waited and put them straight into the ground later?

There's a chance they may have rotted if it was too warm.

I only sow outside and I do that once the weather gets a bit better. As I've said, my outdoor ones only took 10 days from being slung into the trench.

Ah.

So, if they were fairly well watered and 'under glass'... *.

Still, we learn.

I'll put some in the ground tomorrow instead!

Do peas mind getting their feet a bit wet. I have a damp area of clay soil (not boggy) but it is next to a lovely sunny fence that they would love. I am just wondering how much prep it would take to be able to plant them their?

Depends how wet, as they do like well drained soil. Theres a risk of rot if planting seeds directly, but if you are potting up first then its worth a go. Maybe dig some compost/sharp sand in at the same time as planting to help the drainage?
