Last frost
« on: April 11, 2009, 16:05 »
I know that there is a lot of discussion on here about the frost in late May last year but I was wondering what the average last frost date tends to be?  Was that a particularly late one which was exceptional or is it almost always that late?

I guess it makes a (big?) difference where abouts you are in the country?

Yes country location can make a big difference even geological position in an area can affect temperature. I plant mine out from about the 1st June  :)

Thank you.  It says early May for my location of Milton Keynes.  Guess it is always a lottery unless you are willing to wait.

My area says late April on there, but I'll keep an eye out as usual in the 'real world.' They said last year we wouldn't get frost till mid-November, but we got frost 24th October.

I believe it as well. Last one early May. Should be OK this year then, no wipe out at the end of May! :nowink:
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Late april in North Wales.  Apparently you will not get a frost if you have seen a ladybird, and I haven't seen one yet.
