Good for you mate, they look great and I'm sure you'll have some great dinners. I wouldn't fancy seeing how the pork I eat is reared and slaughtered. I think you've done a grand job.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

We unloaded ours and left, but it is a big slaughter house and I don't think we would have been allowed to watch if we had wanted.  The smell when you arrive might put you off!  :tongue2:

Barbecue summer. I was stood out side in the poring rain on Sunday, Barbecuing it took 4 hands to light it, one to hold the brolly. But looking forward to home made sausages. Now as we are busy I was thinking of getting the sausage meat made into batches and then freezing it.  Make an initial batch of sausages then defrost the meat later make the next batch and may be refreeze. Do not shout at me if you should not refreeze, I am a man and I am just thinking.

Thanks noshed.

I know what the smell is like as there is a big abattoir at the back of ASDA Colne and OMG it smells bad. Can you imagine going to do your weekly shop with that stench!!!!

They are going to a small abattoir/butchers so no smell.

Best way to do it.  Local abbatoir, no long stressful journey, no scared animals penned up spreading fear and good quality meat at the end of it.

If I do not do it they will go to market and some one else will.

Or they could move to Bonkers, hardly any frost, no snow and half a garage to shelter in :D

Serious bit : fantastic job you've done with them Rough, they look grand :D

They look great Rough! I wish I could taste pork that fresh but I don't think I have the guts to.  Well done for what you are doing!

The meat I get back will not be fresh as you think, I will not get it back on the same day or week. The meat will be delivered to the butcher of my choice. Then hung and then butchered to what ever we want but that still has not been decide yet.

Hi ours are being done on friday, we get one done as pork and the other as bacon, treat yourself to an electric mincer if you have'nt got one,  mine has a sausage making attachment, mind you some of the sausages I make are hardly sausage shaped but great fun, and pork and bacon burgers better than beefburgers.

Ok, so sunday is my last time to say hi to the little porkers.  So I'll remember to say bye bye too  :(

They gave me one of my biggest laughs this year

Had to think about that for a few minutes and couldn't remember Winston saying that - then remembered the adverts
