hmmm you need PATIENCE - I havent even started my toms yet - unless you have a heated greenhouse its a waste of time having to look after them...

Really? Best I throw them away then...

I put mine in an unheated g/h about 3 weeks ago and they are doing really well.
They came straight off my windowsill into the g/h, did not bring indoors at night just left them in there.
I do light the heater of there is a risk of it going below freezing
My Chillis, peppers and cukes have had the same treatment.

I've just moved mine to a heated greenhouse.

My mother had an unheated one and I would have never put plants in there until the end of April. (I wouldn't have been there to rush out & cover them up though!).

what is the minimum temp in your greenhouse?

Mine are out in the greenhouse during the day whatever the weather, then brought in at night. i figure the extra light will be more beneficial than any moaning from them about it being too cold!

It is only a bit of a faff and better than firing up the heater, but then, my greenhouse is just at the bottom of the garden so not really a big issue.

I put some small tom plants variety Gartenperele when about 2 ins high in unheated green house but under a plastic cover. They are fine and growing away, but as expected they are not making as much progress as the ones left in the kitchen even though those are subject to OH moaning about when are these **** plants going in the greehouse  :D

I sowed beefsteak and gardeners delight in trays 3 weeks ago. They are on the windowsill in our spare room. Potted them on a couple of days ago and they now have their first true leaves. Not looking leggy either so quite pleased so far.

(The previous two years attempts failed. First year leggy straggly seedlings and second year blight)

Mine are now out in the unheated greenhouse and I am putting fleece on them in the evenings.

Initially started on windowsills, then windowsills with tin foil, then greenhouse during day and indoors at night, now as above!  They look like they are doing well and the first two varieties I planted and potted on now have about 5 true leaves each.

I work on the basis that 10C minimum is safe.  I think that colder than that they get checked. Mine are in a little plastic Grow House inside my cold conservatory, against the house wall.  The plastic Grow House ramps up the temperature and humidity - I unzip when it catches the sun around mid morning (West facing conservatory) and zip up again at around 6pm.  Days of full sun I roll up the zipper-door

I bought them into the house each night up until 18th March

(I have a Max/Min thermometer in the Grow House which has helped me compare its temperature to the outside temperature - I've had 10C in the Grow House when there has been a frost, but the shorter nights are making a lot of difference - even if we get a cold night the Grow House minimum temperature doesn't fall as much as it did 3 or 4 weeks ago)

Tom's sown mid Feb, 6cm @ 19-Mar, 12cm @ 29-Mar, pot on to 4.5" today - hopefully!

Mine have been in the unheated greenhouse for about 3 weeks, they are nice and healthy too.

Mind you I fleece everything over every night in there, whether or not theres a risk of frost.

Everything is doing well, so far so good.  :D

I've just moved mine to a plastic greenhouse with bottle cloches on; I shall whip out the fleece on really cold nights, but it gets and stays pretty toasty in there. They had a day out in the sunshine today as I potted them on and seem quite happy. Simply don't have a choice as the house is full of pots and trays now.
