« on: April 02, 2009, 08:09 »
i have 2 different types of peas, twinkle and hurst green shaft, do i need to keep them apart or can i plant them near each other?  i have planted different types of beans together no problem so is it the same for peas?

If you intend eating the lot there is no problem whatsoever.

If you are saving seed, there is a very, very slight chance of cross pollination. I keep my heritage seed well away from any others.

But for general gardening & eating purposes - go ahead!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

You mean St David from Chit On Pease?  He's famous.

I'll be growing 3 types of peas this year, 2 are heritage and they'll all be separated because I need to build up the planting stock for the heritage ones. Next year I get to eat some of the latter.

I'm eating this year - I hope! Built the stock of one type up from 30 seed to 1,000's! Actually Trill, thinking about it, did I send you them? Memory's not good & I've been to bed since!

Oh dear - I have 2 types of heritage peas and some hurst green shaft.  I only have one bed in which to grow them, which is 2-3 yards wide .  I was planning on three rows next to each other ... is this a bad idea?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
