My new Mantis - swapped by Alby
« on: March 30, 2009, 08:37 »
Firstly, many thanks to forum member Alby for swapping me his 2 stroke mantis for a new roll of chicken wire, some willow cuttings and the refund on the mantis postage. Alby put it up on "swap shop" and I'm the lucky recipient.

I used it in action yesterday and I am impressed 1. with the mantis itself and 2. the good condition on this particular machine. It didn't come with a manual so a bit of trial, error and kangoroo bouncing ensued ::).

The ground I used it on had been dug or rotavated last September - virgin ground it wouldn't have done but I don't think they are intended/designed for that. They don't seem to like hard ground but once you've got the first bouncy furrow in its a fair bit easier to nibble at the edges using 2 of tiller baldes in "hard" soil and the other 2 in the "soft" soil.

So I got 2 good sized beds to a fine tilth in a hour! me a happy bunny.
ta again alby, amc
