Every picture of every allotment i ever see, every allotment blog, it seems as though though everyone but me has a stash of big blue barrels.

Growing carrots and parsnips in them, forcing rhubarb, God knows what else.

Any pharmaceutical or chemical users ( eg soap, detergent , talc manufacturers )
will use materials supplied in these drums.
They are usually disposed off to recycling plants.........but many find their way onto allotments and into gardens.
Perhaps you need to know a blue barrel fairy to get delivery   :nowink:

Sorry Ice, i was being tongue in cheek. But i'm tormented by these things. My OH has been on the lookout for a suitable receptical for my carrots for over a year now.

Normally i explain what i'm looking for and a week or two passes and he comes home with it and says 'look what i found'.

Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Try any factory that has liquid glue, binder or similar as they usually have loads spare. I've got two as water butts
