I'll be tucking my seedlings up in bubble wrap over the weekend.
Cheese makes everything better.

I put some parsnip seedlings in toiled rolls in the ground yesterday. Do you think I should cover those up. The seedlings are an inch high or so and have been hardened off for a week.

Not so cold here in London, 0 or -1 forcast. Is debris netting any good to cover them or would the heat escape through the holes?

Cheers

OK - I've earthed up me spuds and my little gem lettuces are inside plastic bottles so should be OK I hope - other seedlings aren't poking through yet - must get on with making me cloches - but that's another post  :)

Just noticed I've got some Peach blossom out. All nicely wrapped up under 3 layers of Fleece now. night night...  ;) ::)
Tatties only went in last Friday, so under 4" of soil. I think they'll be O.K.  ::)
OH is already mumbling on about lack of windowsill space... :nowink: Little does she know, I've got 6 trays in the conservatory (unheated) that will have to come to bed with us tonight!!!

.... Thanks for the heads up Rich. Hope everyone notices it in time!

Just covered mine up with fleecy type stuff that was covering our sofa when we bought it - looks exactly like the stuff you can buy!

Remember this time last year we had SNOW even this far south on the Island and we rarely get it.  Our 'Grand National' takes place on Sunday and last year it was cancelled because of the weather.

My parents are going away for a week near Hexham. ::)  Might be a bit chilly.
It will be a bit chilly. I'm next door to Hexham and it is.

Have popped a few carrot seeds in tubs but they aren't showing yet. Have more seeds if they don't show in the next 3 weeks. The spuds aren't showing so no problems there.

Done nothing else with there having been winds all week and planting will wait till the middle of next week to get seriously started.

Well, as I lounge here in bed with the laptop and a cup of tea, I hear the rain being hit against the windows by the squally wind.

Definitely not an incentive to go out and about  :nowink:
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

You'll definitely need to do something - cover them with fleece at least.  not sure about the heater as I don't have a greenhouse, hopefully someone else will know

You and me both. Not that I'm in bed with you sharing a cuppa, of course ...

Agh, as mentioned in another thread this morning we were in Poundland yesterday and we snaffled a few bargains, although not the fleece they had on offer. Might be worth a trip to anyone in need of a quick fix for tonight.

We have inherited some mis-shapen strips of astroturf, I'd imagine they'd be ok? (note the tentative question from a complete newbie who's terrified of the unknown :D )
