what on earth is happening? bad news...

I hope she had another good day at work and she didnt over do it.

Do you think she is getting any better, or the same.

My chick is poorly too with same ish symptoms and im watching your post hoping your girlie will get better soon.

 
she's with me in the Booksellers' Association! first chicken to join up!
i can't work out whether she's better or not - she's certainly not worse.
and sometimes she acts normally, then she's back to mopey.
poo's still yellow and mostly liquid, although it has got more solid matter in it than before.

i get an awful feeling that this is now normal for her....

she's not laying anything at all - and her combs gone really pale now, so that's probably the last we'll see from her! don't like the look of the lash, so i hope she won't!

1ml of 2.5% baytril - orally with a nifty syringe.

food: she's getting normal mash, which she seems to be picking up (ish )
and anything else that tempts her, really.
she had some of my bread and some of my vegetable pasta.
we tried tuna cat food, but the lumps were too big and by the time we'd broken them down she didn't want it!
i bought a bag of chick grit as well, because she's not outside.
sweetcorn.

i keep taking her over to her food bowl as well, because it's fooling her into thinking there's something new so she eats it for a while.
she's definitely eating more than she was. (and having a half-full ish crop at the end of the day)

Hi all,

I've been in cairo for a week.
I left Adam instructions on how to post, but he couldn't find the thread.

Unfortunately, Sandra died on Wednesday morning.

Adam says it happened like this:
about 5 o'clock on wed morning he heard her making a noise like egg-laying-noise, so he came upstairs, calmed her down and went back to bed. then later she was doing it again, so he got up again etc.
when he got up properly, she was just sitting there, as normal.
he went to get dressed and heard a bump (he thought she fell over)
then he heard paper rustling, came in to look at her and she was lying on her side, (like sunbathing, but not right). when he came out of the bathroom, she was in distress and she started flapping about with one wing.
he decided to call the vet because she was in such distress, took the morning off work, then he sat with her to try to keep her calm (looking for the vet's number at the same time). at about 1/2 past 9 and she was struggling to flap her wings, then she died.


He's been really upset about it, but i'm glad he was there with her when she died.
(I had told her not to die before i got back, but it obviously got too much for her)

it was weird that towards the end she was just acting like a really old lady - all tired and weak.

hawkins, i hope yours is getting better.
(i haven't had time to look at the other threads for this week yet, because i only got back this afternoon)
