I think it's goose grass as well:

At least it pulls up easily. Burdock seems to look more like a thistle?

We've also got some stuff I call bubble weed; strings of round mid-green leaves, increasing in size. Think it might be hairy bittercress. And we get some with really glossy pointed leaves, in layers of four; don't know what that is. Tons of sowthistle, shepherds purse and fat hen as well.

Sheesh Jules you are really having it bad!

Bindweed is my biggest headache. I pick out every bit in sight and it still comes up so I pull off most of the leafy branches and squirt Roundup onto the remaining bit. Takes it back for the season only to return the following year. One day I'll get rid of it entirely but won't hold my breath until then.

I am definitely entrenched in a long long battle against cooch grass. some parts of the plot are still full of a tangled web of it along the edge. It comes in because my plot is the one next to the hedge.

At home its buttercups and some weed I don't know the name of but its prolific, grows fast, flowers and seeds quicker so I never get rid of it!  On the plot, much as everyone else, dock, bind weed, couch, bindweed and couch, at least I don't have marestail!

PP.. it's not just weeds that are a b**ger. - I planted this stuff a few years ago Houttuynia cordata 'Chameleon' AKA Rainbow chameleon, and had to dig over a patch on Sunday, to plant OH's mothers day pressie ( 10 Primroses for £4, Bargain!) :) It's worse than bindweed!!! plus the fact that the ground is particularly heavy clay. I'm certain that there's loads of little bits  left in some of the clods. ::)

I weed kill my paths all around my plot each year with sodium chlorate to try and stop it coming through from the wilderness either side of me  ::)

Don't forget sodium chlorate is only available to buy until the end of September and only legally to be used until May next year! This 'directive' also includes some of the 'path clear' type weed killers. Have now had the official notification from Doff.

My dad planted Houttuynia a few years ago. He had to weedkill it and dig every scrap out. Took him all year. Menace.

Did I mention we also have lots of burdock (8ft tall. Leaves 15" across). Also chickweed, creeping buttercup, creeping cinquefoil, loads of green alkanet along with self seeded foxgloves and teazels (which at least are pretty and nice for wildlife).

We shall win !!!
